Tony Award Nominated “Souvenir” is the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a true-life, New York, society eccentric who believed she was a magnificent, operatic soprano. Truth be told, she was incapable of singing two consecutive notes in tune.
Blissfully unaware of her handicap, Florence’s annual recitals at the Ritz Carlton, where she resided, brought her extraordinary fame.
As news of her terrible singing spread, so did her celebrity. She became both the toast and the joke of the town. Highlighting her career was a single concert at Carnegie Hall in 1944, which famously sold out in two hours.
By turns hilarious and poignant, Souvenir tells her story through the eyes of her trusted friend and accompanist, Cosme McMoon. Come fall in love with this musical odd couple.
“The Coyote StageWorks company lives up to its Desert Theatre League award-winning reputation with its current production of Stephen Temperley’s 2005 Broadway hit comedy, SOUVENIR.”
— Bruce Fessier, The Desert Sun
“Producer and CSW Founder, Chuck Yates has skillfully assembled a stellar cast and creative team who are “a cut above” and he delivers one of those special evenings in the theatre that is not to be missed… Drop everything and change your plans and make a bee-line to the Annenberg Theater for one of the last remaining performances.”
